The Most Powerful SPM Seminar | Monday, August 07, 2006

6th of August 2006. On this auspicious day, Ti-Ratana Community Centre has organised the Most Powerful SPM Seminar, or so it seemed. The venue? It was held in Kolej Damansara Utama, or KDU for short. With the theme, Unity and Harmony through Education, the whole seminar started off with a BANG.

Took off from my house at around 7.15am, since it only took about 30 minutes drive to reach KDU, i reached the gates of KDU approximately 7.47am. Upon arrival, the gates were flooded with students from different places. Some were dressed in this maroon colour t-shirt which bore the word 'Ti-RATANA' at the back of the shirt. With a bit of luck, i managed to meet up with kim leong, who has also just arrived. Together we marched into the unknown.

Bumped into vincent and ginny, who were there 5 minutes before us, and they asked us to register and get those maroon colour t-shirts to change. So we did as we were told, and we were all clad in maroon n before we knew it, each of us looked identical! bumped into jian wei after that, who told us he has reserved seats for us, but we were a bit late so the seats were all taken. Oh well ... but, we did managed to get seats behind him!

There were more Twelveans than i thought, seriously. Among the twelveans which were present: min wei, wei choong, jarrod, meng sum, colin, syafiq, jia wen, pei yin, si yin, chin sen, danny and ..... i couldn't remember anymore. but i m pretty sure i left out a few. n of course, met alot of my ex-classmates! managed to hav a few words with them before proceeding to the hall.

alrite enough of the intro. we had a few speeches by the VIPs before religious leaders from the Inter-Faith Group which consists of muslim, christian, buddhist, hindu and sikh conducted blessings for us. each with their own way or should i say blessings for us. it was an eye opener cuz i hav never seen a sikh blessing before. for more details on this part, please refer to vincent's blog, he had elaborated enough on the blessing part.

On to the 'Study Smart' Workshop, conducted by Master Trainer Mr. Christopher Wong, who is also the CEO of the Perfection Training Academy. One word which really suits him, charismatic. His ability to capture ALL of our attention with his extraordinary hand movements and style of talking really makes him one in a million. n before this, ginny n vincent were mentioning that he looked more like a fashion designer than a motivator. throughout the time in his session, i really enjoyed it! He and his brain issues were just hilarious, which was more than enough to catch my attention. I like the guy, lolz.

Then it was onto english language seminar, which was quite ordinary. The speaker didn't really cracked lots of jokes, but his powerful voice n stronge command of english were there to draw my attention. Nothing much to comment about this session. just ur ordinary english language seminar.

LUNCH BREAK. ok .... it was supposed to be lunch break after the english seminar, heck it was 12.20pm! they had a change of schedule, so lunch break has been postponed. we will have to go through the maths seminar1st before we could lay our hands on FOOD. ginny and i were complaining that we were hungry! lolz.

the maths seminar ROCKS. first of all the speaker was clad in a black blazer, black pants along with his sunglasses which reminded me of Men In Black. then since we were all typically turned off due to our 'hungry-ness' , he decided to entertain us. he dragged 3 couples up the stage, 3 boys 3 girls. the game was to ask the girls about the form of questions that will appear in the Bahagian B of Kertas 2. the 1st and the last girl succeeded in answering the questions. as for the 2nd girl ... she answered wrongly. as a punishment, the partner for the girl will hav to propose to her! it was all an act. however, the guy chickened out!! i should hav went, ;p. the 3rd couple, which the speaker really favoured as the guy named Simon was a really sporting fella. he was the only one who volunteered to be called up stage. the girl doesn't looked so bad either, Mindy if i m not wrong. HE DID THE PROPOSAL! Step 1: drop to ur knees! Step 2: hold her hand. Step 3: kiss it. Step 4: propose! the hall was filled with cheers and laughter. Our heat was up again as we all liked the speaker, the thought of food was left aside for the next 1 hour.

finally lunch break, they offered chicken rice. after that, i lost contact with the others as i didnt know where all of them went. some friends ... sheesh. anyway, met up with xue min, an ex-classmate of mine which i was kinda close to. n so we talked, and then jun hao joined us. and then we saw calvin! who was also our ex-classmate! all of us met up n we talked for a brief moment. Sim Ee (another one) walked past us n we managed to say hi. xue min introduced me to jun hao's cousin who is also her fren, i forgot her name >< but we shook hands. cute girl! xD oh yea ... i met jin young!

anyway, i returned to the hall to find the rest are already there. ish. then there was this lucky draw thingy which was kinda boring, i don't find the need to elaborate much on this.

Next up we had seminar bahasa melayu, i remember the speaker's name, Eswaran! why i remembered it so well? course he's the only one among all the speakers ... to speak in a PMS mood. i was puzzled from the start as he was yelling MENYAMPAH at us. mayb cuz he wanted to emphasize the difference between the malay language used here n used up north. i was wondering .... so i asked ginny, 'did we .... uhh ... did something wrong?' LOL. he went on with his critics and eventually words like 'mangkuk' or 'mangkuk ayun' started flying all over the places. All in all, he was good, better than the english language speaker. his usage of kosa kata was ....... amazingly unbelievable.

check this out. 'Kemerut vandalisme persis didefinisikan sebagai perbuatan negatif yang dilakukan oleh seseorang individu atau sekumpulan individu yang tidak bertanggungjawab dengan membakar, menconteng atau merosakkan harta benda awam.' this is the starting sentence for the essay ''vandalisme'' he taught us. n this is only 1 sentence. one word, wicked! lol.

the whole programme pretty much reached its end at around 3.58pm, and so we packed our bags n left the hall. kim leong n i parted ways with vincent and ginny as we went our separate ways. we decided to make a side trip to the gents before leaving ^^. my dad came around 4.20pm, went home feeling motivated to study for SPM!!

unfortunately .... due to the fatigue, i was knocked out till 8.30pm. haha.

Dawn of a New Day | Friday, August 04, 2006

its been awhile since i last wrote a poem, hehe. ^^

Dawn of a New Day - Ravin3z
The dawn of a new day,
ever so soothing, ever so calming.
With birds soaring above the pleasant sky,
singing and dancing with the wind.
I feel free,
as the wind that caressed my face,
brought new hope into me.
The soothing sky,
erased my sorrows,
and futhermore ceased my depression.
A new day has arrived.
I shall start anew and refreshed,
to pursue my dreams,
and fulfill my priorities.
